Goodbye + Hello

I am not really sure how to start writing this post. It has been a fun couple of years sharing my life and love of DIY projects here with you. I never would have imagined that I would ever own a blog. Grammar and compete sentences are not my gift.  After a few friends finally convinced me, I started and would never turn back.  I have made/met some amazing friends through this blog.

Over 2 years ago, my dear friend Jessica and I started BE CRAFTY workshops as a way to share our love of handmade with those around us. With the growth of our workshops I have decided to move and blog at the NEW Be Crafty website/blog.

Thanks you for all your love and comments here. Every single one of them have been read with love. I hope you will move with me over to the new blog, where I can't wait to start posting.

xoxo

Be Crafty - Valentines Workshop

On Saturday Jessica and I spent the morning crafting at the studio. It felt so good to get back after the holidays. I always feel so inspired when I am there. Maybe it's the big window's and white walls!!

Pink fringes, lace and heart doilies were unpacked as we began crafting for our upcoming workshop. I know it's a little early to pull out the candy hearts, and love music. One my goals this year for BE CRAFTY is to teach and create projects that can be enjoyed and used once they are brought home.

polka dot gift wrap - DIY

Happy Christmas Eve, Eve.  Things are getting finished up around here as we are getting ready to celebrate Christmas before heading to our family's home in South Dakota.

It was fun pulling out the paint and paint brushes for some last minute gift wrapping projects.  I am so excited to start some fun painting projects for 2014, but for now I will finish Christmas presents and enjoy the true meaning of Christmas.

I went to home depot and got Behr sample paint. All colors are ombre' 160B sample sheet.  Using kraft boxes I simply used dot stampers and paint brushes and stamped away.

Wishing you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!

Spoon full of Marshmallows

Every year about this time in December I always ask myself how is it already mid December. I of course am way behind in everything.  I had so many plans and idea's I wanted to share here this year. Looks like it will have to wait till next year.

I started putting together a few gifts for friends that have to be mailed out by next week and wanted to include a little treat that they could enjoy with their little ones. It's always fun when mom can share part of their Christmas present.  I can always remember wanting to open or see what was inside my moms presents.

These spoons are really easy to make.

Directions:
I used left over bamboo spoons that I had from a previous party. I melted down chocolate bark.
Using a small metal spoon I carefully filled the wood spoon with chocolate. I did not add a lot.  Once the chocolate was added to the wood spoon I carefully tapped in on the counter to get a even spread.

Add any kind of toping you wish. My favorite was mini marshmallows, heart sprinkles and I even some crushed candy canes.

I stamped a few tags to wrap around the package using some mini letter stamps.

enjoy!!!!

Oh Christmas Tree

The tree is up and it's looking like Christmas around our house!!  This year my wish of having a white tree finally came true. Ever since I was little I always wanted a white tree.  And this year I finally got my wish.

Yes that is a paper fan on top of my tree. I'm obsessed with them, you wouldn't expect anything else would you?

I hate clutter, most of the time. I like things organized.  I have never been good at decorating a tree because of this. This  year I tried to use mostly garlands to decorate the tree. I made a quick felt garland out of scraps I had. I also used pom pom yarn and white crepe paper that I ruffled. It's not perfect, but that's what I like about it.

Our upstairs received a little makeover since the last time have seen it. I refurbished a dresser I found at the thrift store and added two ikea cabinets on the side. I am so excited to have more space for craft supplies.

I think Ali likes sleeping next to the tree.

Celebrating baby "O"

On Saturday Jessica and I hosted a little baby shower gathering for our sweet friend Jenna. Just short of a year have I known Jenna. We meet at our winter Be Crafty creative weekend retreat. I felt an instant friendship and am in awe by her creativeness, and her passion for her handmade business.

After finding out Jenna was expecting Jessica and I thought it would be fun to throw her a little shower at our studio.  With Jenna's love for sewing and fabric we knew we had to have a vintage fabric theme.

We hung fabric wrapped lampshades from the ceiling along with my hanky lampshade that I added lance and pom pom yarn too.

This past spring while out thrifting I found these beautiful pink plates. I was so excited to finally have the chance to use them at a party. Each place setting had a pink plate, and a different patterned hanky for their napkin.  Lace and glitter yarn were wrapped around the painted bamboo silverware.

Look at this cake. Yes it was at good as it looked!!! I will admit that it is my all time favorite, vanilla coconut.  I convinced Jessica that we had to get it for the shower. If you are in Minneapolis check out YUM. They will sell you just a piece, and you will probably hate me for telling you because you will want to eat an entire cake ...

With a crafty group, we had to have a little crafting fun as we all know baby "O" will one day grow up to love crafting.  We each painted and stamped with doily stencils creating cute onesies for Jenna to take home with her. I have heard that you can never have enough onesies.

As we sat around the table eating cake, smelling the beautiful flowers, laughing and hearing all about the dream's Jenna has for her new family and Baby "O".  I soaked in the day as we gathered and celebrated. I pray daily for Jenna and all the new mom's as they take this new journey into motherhood.
